At approximately 9400, Co.2, Co.5, and Co.1 were dispatched to the report of a generator on fire. Upon arrival, E2-1 found a single story home with fire through the roof. E2-1 deployed a handline and made an interior attack with E1's crew.
Around 1100, Co.2, Co.5, and Co.1 were dispatched to the 300 Block of Briery Way Rd. for the report of a kitchen fire. Upon arrival, E1 utilized E2-1's handline in search of fire. The fire was found to be out on arrival.
Around 7pm, PE Companies 01 and 04 were dispatched as mutual aid to Buckingham County for the report of a building fire. Upon arrival, E1 found deep fryer well involved off the charlie side of the structure with extension into the building.
Around 7am on 12/02/2020, Co.1, Co.2, and Co.4 were dispatched to the 600 block of Race St. for the report of smoke filling an attic. Upon arrival, E1 crews found a section of attic space and insulation burned out.
As we start the New Year we hope everyone is doing well. As you can tell it has been a while since we have added a call to the front page. It is not due to the lack of calls, far from it. This past year we ran a total of 615 calls for service, an increase of 189 calls from 2017's total.
June 19th was a busy day for Company 1. The day started at 1107 hours, when Company 1 was dispatched 2nd Due to a structure fire on Penny Lane. Engine 1-2 arrived on scene and assisted Company 2 Hampden-Sydney with fire suppression.
On June 9, 2018 at approximately 2050 hours, Company 1 was dispatched to the 2500 Block of W Third Street in reference to a van that went over the embankment. Squad-1 arrived on scene, and found a van down a embankment that landed on the four wheels.
On May 1, 2018 at 1140 hours Company 1 was dispatched to a single vehicle that had overturned on RT 460 Westbound. Upon arrival crews found a single pick-up on its side that appeared to have rolled over several times.
On April 27, 2018 at 1220 hours Company 1 was toned out for a possible 2nd due structure fire in Hampden-Sydney Fire Department's area. Luckily crews arrived on scene, and found it to be a small electrical issue.
On April 20, 2018 at approximately 1400 hours, Company 1 was dispatched to the 700 Block of Plank Road for a brush fire. Upon arrival, Chief 1 requested for two more fire companies due to the size of the fire, 10 acres.
On April 20, 2018 at approximately 1030 hours, Company 1 was dispatched to the 2700 Block of W Third Street for a fully involved car fire. Crews arrived on scene, and found a fully involved van in a field.
On February 9, 2017 at approximately 1100 hours, Company 1 was dispatched to assist Cumberland County with a propane truck that had overturned on Route 45. Crews arrived on scene, and found a single truck on its side leaking propane from the tank.
As we start 2018, Farmville Fire Department looks back at 2017. For the first time ever the department surpassed the 400 mark for calls with 426 calls total for the year. This was an all time high for the Department again, breaking last year's record setting pace.
On December 18, 2017 at 1214 hours, Company 1 Farmville was toned out for a structure fire in 3400 Block of New Bethel Road in Company 5 Meherrin's first due. Engine 1-2 arrived on scene with a PAR Count of 6.
On December 16, 2017 at 0817 hours, Company 1 Farmville was toned out 2nd Due to the 600 Block of Monroe Church Rd for a structure fire to assist Company 7 Rice. Engine 1-2 arrived on scene at 0832 hours, and found heavy fire conditions.
On December 11, 2017 at approximately 0740 hours, Farmville Fire was dispatched 2nd due to the 300 Block of Gates Bass Rd for a vehicle fire threatening a structure. Upon arrival Company 7 (Rice) had started an initial attack with a handline.
The Farmville Fire Department would like to recognize our member of the month Firefighter Jonathan Conner. Jon comes to us from Chesterfield Virginia. After serving a tour of Duty in Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division where he graduated in the top of his class.
On October 20, 2017 at 1634 hours, Company 1 Farmville were dispatched to the 700 Block of Northview Drive for a heavy equipment fire. Units arrived on scene, and found the majority of the fire was already extinguished.
On October 20, 2017 at 1036 hours, Company 1 Farmville and Prince Edward Rescue Squad were dispatched to the Farmville Airport in reference to an aviation emergency. While en-route dispatch stated that two planes had collided while on the runway.
As some of you have seen Squad-1 has started construction, and is slated to replace Engine 1-1. Engine 1-1 was the first custom cab apparatus that the Town of Farmville purchased for the Fire Department in 2001.
